MLB betting: Bettor turns $25 into $16K via wild 12-team parlay

One customer at BetMGM managed to turn $25 into more than $16,000. All it took was a 12-team parlay.

This bettor’s parlay involved 12 games from Friday’s MLB slate, and several of the games were decided in extra innings or came down to the slimmest of margins.

The parlay involved five total bets, three moneyline bets and four bets on the run line. And when the dust settled, the bettor won $16,074.

We’ll start with the over-under bets. There were four overs and one under. The under — Braves vs. Reds under 10.5 — hit easily as the Braves won 3-2 on the road. The Marlins vs. Nationals over 7.5 hit easily too with the Marlins winning in blowout fashion, 11-2. Elsewhere, the over 8.5 runs in the Pirates-Cardinals game was in the bag by the fifth inning.

The two others were tight. The total in the Rockies vs. Brewers game was 7.5. The Rockies had a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the ninth inning. Two batters later, the game was tied and the parlay was alive thanks to a two-run home run from Willy Adames. The Brewers later won the game 5-4 in 11 innings.

The Orioles vs. Blue Jays game also went into extra innings. The total was 10.5, but there were only six runs scored entering the eighth inning. At that point, the Blue Jays led 5-1, but Baltimore rallied with a four-run top of the eighth to tie the score at 5-5. The Orioles would go on to win 6-5 in 10, hitting the over in the process.

With the three moneyline bets, there wasn’t much drama. The Padres beat the Diamondbacks 11-5, the Dodgers beat the Cubs 6-2 and the Rays beat the Angels 4-3.

From there, there were four run-line bets needed to seal the deal. At +1.5, the bettor had some wiggle room compared to the moneyline bets where a straight-up victory was required.

The Red Sox (5-3 over the Yankees), Rangers (9-4 over the Royals) and Mariners (9-3 over the White Sox) did win straight-up, but Cleveland did not.

The Indians trailed the Twins 8-6 entering the ninth inning. The bettor needed a run to cover the spread, and Josh Naylor came through with a solo shot, cutting the deficit to 8-7.

The comeback effort was short-lived as the Twins pulled out an 8-7 victory. But that home run from Naylor proved to be the difference as this bettor turned $25 into $16,074.
