The Philadelphia 76ers are re-signing veteran shooting guard Danny Green to a two-year, $20 million deal, as first reported by Harrison San, who co-hosts the Inside the Green Room podcast with Green himself. The 76ers waived the partially guaranteed contract of George Hill on Monday seemingly to create more flexibility to make moves. They now appear to have used that flexibility to bring back Green.

That essentially means, barring a trade, that they will run back last year's team. All five starters have returned, as have key reserves Tyrese Maxey, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz and Shake Milton. Georges Niang was signed to give the bench another shooter, and Andre Drummond will replace Dwight Howard at backup center, but otherwise, thus far, it has been business as usual in Philadelphia.

That is somewhat surprising considering the disastrous end to Philadelphia's season. Ben Simmons has been in trade rumors ever since his disappointing second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, but thus far, Philadelphia has seemingly been asking for too much in a possible Simmons deal. Nothing appears to have come close to materializing, and at this stage in the offseason, most teams have largely finished constructing their rosters. Finding a deal now would be difficult.

But it's worth asking how much more upside this version of the 76ers might have with Green returning. He got hurt in the postseason and wasn't playing when the Hawks eliminated them. The young backups should be better. Even if Green and Seth Curry decline a bit with age, if healthy, the Sixers should still be formidable.

That appears to be the hope right now. The 76ers surely explored higher-reward moves before bringing Green back. They didn't find one, so now, they will likely maintain the team that finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season.
