The Tampa Bay Lightning gave up six goals for the second time this week but scored four unanswered goals — including a game-winner from Ondrej Palat — against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday to win 7-6 in overtime.
The two-time defending Stanley Cup champions had to overcome 4-1 and 6-3 deficits, as well as four Tyler Bertuzzi goals, for their first win of the early season. Bertuzzi scored three goals in the first 12:29 of the second period and added another 4:35 into the third.
The Red Wings led 6-3 with 13 minutes left in regulation before three Lightning goals in a four-minute span by Ross Colton, Nikita Kucherov and Alex Killorn sent the game to OT.
The Lightning gave up six goals in a 6-2 opening night loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, then on Thursday gave up six goals in the game's first 47 minutes.
