Despite three injury-plagued seasons, Jaren Jackson Jr.'s future with the Memphis Grizzlies was never in doubt as general manager Zach Kleiman called him a franchise cornerstone.

On Monday, Jackson agreed to a four-year, $105 million rookie contract extension. according to a league source. The source was granted anonymity because terms of the deal have not been made public.

ESPN was first to report Jackson's contract, which is the third largest in franchise history behind Mike Conley's $153 million deal in 2016 and Marc Gasol signing for an $113 million extension in 2015.

Jackson, who played in just 11 regular season games last year because of injury, has averaged 15.4 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 37.4% on 3-pointers. The former No. 4 overall pick ended the preseason with consecutive 20-point games.

If the Grizzlies did not sign Jackson before Monday's deadline, they would have had to wait until after the season when Jackson became a free agent. However, Jackson was confident that a deal would eventually get done.

"I've been able to trust my team with that. I have such an elite team so thank you for them to take the pressure off me this summer and I could just work on my game," Jackson said at media day.

With Jackson signed, the Grizzlies have taken care of one of their two franchise cornerstones. Ja Morant will eligible to sign his rookie extension next summer and could sign a maximum extension worth $181 million.
