COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina arguably made its biggest splash in the transfer portal era of college football Monday night.

A pair of big-name Oklahoma transfers, quarterback Spencer Rattler and tight end Austin Stogner, both announced their commitments to join the Gamecocks via their Twitter pages. Monday just so happened to be the first day of South Carolina's bowl practice for the Duke's Mayo Bowl Dec. 30 in Charlotte.

Rattler, an Arizona native, was the nation's highest-rated pro-style quarterback coming out of high school in 2019. After redshirting behind Jalen Hurts in 2019, Rattler earned freshman of the year honors in 2020, throwing for more than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns.

He joins South Carolina with 16 starts under his belt, winning 14 of those games while having played on some of college football's biggest stages.

Stogner caught just 14 passes in 2021 for Oklahoma, following a bout with staph infection in his leg as he worked his way back to full health this year.

Before his injury, the then sophomore tight end was a second team all-Big 12 selection with 26 receptions for 422 yards and three scores.

Both are connected with Beamer, who was on Lincoln Riley's staff in Norman, Oklahoma from 2018-2020. Rattler and Stogner have been highly sought-after transfers since deciding to leave the Sooners following the conclusion of the 2021 regular season in late November.

The pair should be immediate contributors for the Gamecocks next season.
