The Steelers are extending their outside search for a new general manager all the way into the world of broadcasting, as they are scheduled to interview ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. The 52-year-old "Monday Night Football" commentator, a former Eagles and Washington executive, interviewed for several GM openings last offseason. Now, with longtime Steelers personnel chief Kevin Colbert set to retire after the 2022 draft, Riddick has emerged as one of the most notable external candidates on Pittsurgh's radar.

Last seen in the NFL as the Eagles' director of pro personnel from 2010-2013, Riddick told SteelerNation.com this offseason that only a few jobs would interest him in a return to the front office, but that Pittsburgh was one of them. Colbert remains the Steelers' GM after 22 seasons with the organization, but team president Art Rooney II has already announced the club's first wave of interviews for his successor, who will likely be named after the draft.

Internal candidates Brandon Hunt, the pro scouting coordinator; and Omar Khan, the vice president of football operations, are believed to be favorites to replace Colbert. Still, the Steelers have announced interviews with three other external candidates: Titans executive Ryan Cowden, Chargers director of player personnel JoJo Wooden and Colts assistant GM Ed Dobbs.

Riddick, who worked under current Eagles GM Howie Roseman, originally joined Philadelphia as a pro scout in 2008 during Andy Reid's tenure as head coach. Prior to that, he spent seven years in Washington, first as a scout and then as the team's director of pro personnel.
