Paris Saint-Germain have won the Ligue 1 title after drawing 1-1 with Lens on Saturday.
It looked as if they might have to wait another week to confirm their victory, and were booed off at half-time after a stubborn Lens made life difficult for PSG's star-studded squad.
However, the most gilded jewel of all, Lionel Messi, opened the scoring in the 68th minute to secure his first trophy since joining the club from Barcelona last summer.
Receiving the ball 25 yards away from goal, he transferred the ball onto his favoured left foot, and lazily swept a curling shot past Lens keeper Jean-Louis Leca.
Lens scored an equaliser in the 87th minute, but a draw was enough for PSG to reclaim the title from Lille, who were last season's surprise winners.
PSG, who have now won their 10th domestic title, have dominated the competition in 2021-22 and are 16 points clear of second-placed Marseille with five games remaining.
They have lost just four league matches and scored 76 goals during their domestic campaign.
This title victory is the first of Pochettino’s career, with the 50-year-old’s only two other managerial honours also coming with PSG. He won the Trophee des Champions in 2020 shortly after being appointed and lifted the Coupe de France last season.
Outside of Ligue 1, however, PSG have had a disappointing season.
They exited the Champions League at the round of 16 after a second-leg collapse against Real Madrid, were knocked out of the Coupe de France at the same stage on penalties by Nice, and lost the Trophee des Champions to Lille.
Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino had been considered for the manager’s job at Manchester United, but the Old Trafford club have instead opted for Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag.
Pochettino, who succeeded Thomas Tuchel at PSG in January 2021, signed a contract extension last summer which expires in June 2023.
There is doubt, too, over the future of PSG talisman and Ligue 1 top scorer Kylian Mbappe. The 23-year-old’s contract expires in June and he has long been the subject of a transfer saga involving Real Madrid.
