The Atlanta Hawks are out of the playoffs after bowing down to the Miami Heat, 97-94, in Game 5 of their series. Nate McMillan's men struggled mightily, but none more so than Trae Young who was basically shut down by the Miami defense.

According to Stat Muse, Young finished the 2022 playoffs with more turnovers than made baskets. On Tuesday against the Heat, he committed six turnovers to bring up his tally to 30. Unfortunately, he failed to make up for it with just two made baskets in the game for a total of 22 field goals in the series.

The Heat did a really good job at locking down Trae Young and clogging his passing lanes to lessen his effectiveness. He often attracts defenders with is long-range shooting, but after Miami took that option away from him, the Hawks' offense became less efficient.

Of course Young is solely not to blame for the Hawks' defeat. They just didn't have enough firepower to counter Miami's balanced offense. McMillan has also been clearly outcoached by Erik Spoelstra no matter what adjustment he makes to try to free up Ice Trae.

Now, Atlanta goes back to the drawing board to try to figure out what went wrong for them and what adjustments they can make in 2022-23. Many had high hopes for them after they reached the East Finals last season, but clearly, they didn't play up to their usual standards this time around.
