2022 NFL training camp schedule: Reporting dates, locations, roster cut-down timeline

Soon, NFL teams will begin preparations for the 2022 season.

On July 18, rookies on the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders will be the first to report for training camp this season. The Raiders - under first-year head coach Josh McDaniels - will play the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 4. The first full weekend of NFL preseason games is Aug. 11-14. Hall of Fame Game participants play four preseason games; all other teams play three.

Training camp reporting dates are mandatory, with rookies reporting ahead of veteran players for most teams.  Players can be fined $50,000 per day for any unexcused absence.

For the first time, the Detroit Lions will be featured on the HBO docuseries. The five-episode series, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at training camp and the preseason, is scheduled to run Aug. 9-Sept. 6.
