Brian Robinson Jr. doing some drills at Commanders practice 2 weeks after being shot

When news broke that Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. had suffered gunshot wounds in a robbery attempt, nobody could have expected to see him back on the field this season.

Two weeks after being shot, he was doing drills at practice.

Robinson wasn't exactly going through a full team workout, but it doesn't take anything away from a remarkable comeback.

Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, reporting from practice, said Robinson was riding a stationary bike to the side at practice. Later, he did ladder agility drills according to Jhabvala. Robinson was shot twice in the leg during the robbery attempt on Aug. 28.

Last week ESPN reported that Robinson could return by Week 5. That seemed like an aggressive timeline, but the reports about Robinson have been optimistic since he was shot. Seeing Robinson doing anything at practice a little more than two weeks after the shooting is remarkable.

Robinson looked good in the preseason and seemed to be tracking toward a big role in Washington's offense. That obviously had to be paused when Robinson was shot. But with Robinson already doing drills to the side at practice, maybe he will be back in just a few weeks.
