Ken Niumatalolo won't return as Navy football coach after 15 seasons

One day after losing to arch rival Army in double overtime, the Naval Academy has parted ways with head football coach Ken Niumatalolo.

Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk announced Sunday that Niumatalolo, the winningest coach in school history, will not return for the 2023 season.

"Our sincerest gratitude to Coach Ken for what has been a distinguished and impactful legacy at the Naval Academy," Gladchuk said. "Navy football flourished for many years under his leadership. He will forever be remembered for the influence he has had on the lives of those who played for him."

In 15 seasons with the Midshipmen, Niumatalolo posted a record of 109-83 (.568), but they've had just one winning season in the last five years.
