Eagles Offensive Lineman Indicted on Kidnapping, Rape Charges

Ohio prosecutors announced Wednesday that a grand jury indicted Eagles guard Josh Sills on rape and kidnapping charges.
The Sarahsville, Ohio, native was charged after holding the woman “against her will” and raping her in December 2019, according to the Wednesday press release from the Ohio Attorney General Office and indictment. The grand jury recommended two first-degree felonies—one count each of kidnapping and rape.
Sills has been requested to appear in court Feb. 16.
The attorney general’s office added that the incident was “immediately reported” and that a “detailed investigation” was completed by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.
The NFL has placed Sills on the commissioner’s exempt list, meaning he cannot practice or travel with the team for games. The league also said the situation would be reviewed under its personal conduct policy.
The news of Sills charges come three days after the Eagles defeated the 49ers in the NFC championship game to snag a spot in Super Bowl LVII against the Chiefs. At the time this story was published, the Eagles had not commented publicly on Sills’s case.
Sills has played in one game for Philadelphia this season. He joined the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after playing at West Virginia and Oklahoma State.
