Report: Warriors bring back Payton II in trade

Gary Payton II was a key part of the Golden State Warriors’ championship team in 2022, contributing defense and other aspects to the team. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Payton is headed back to the Warriors in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Payton signed with Portland in the offseason as a free agent, but missed the first 35 games of 2022-23 after having offseason surgery. He is averaging 4.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 1.5 apg in 17 mpg. The Los Angeles Lakers’ trade-centric makeover continued Thursday with a reported deal with the Orlando Magic, per multiple reports. In the swap, the Lakers acquire former lottery pick Mo Bamba from the Magic for Patrick Beverley, a future second-round pick and cash.

Clippers, Grizzlies add to backcourt in 3-team deal

Per multiple reports, the LA Clippers are adding to their backcourt in a three-team deal that also involves the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. In the deal, the Rockets will send Eric Gordon to the Clippers, the Grizzlies will deal Danny Green to the Rockets and the Clippers will send John Wall to the Grizzlies.

Kennard is a valuable 3-point shooter and is averaging 7.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg and 1.1 apg this season while shooting 44.7% from deep. Green has been hurt much of this season but recently worked his way back into Memphis’ rotation.

Report: Warriors trade Wiseman to Pistons in 3-team swap

Golden State has struggled to find its footing at times this season but has apparently agreed to a trade today. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors are dealing James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons as a part of a three-team trade that also involves the Atlanta Hawks. In the deal, the Hawks would pick up Saddiq Bey.

Wiseman has struggled with injuries throughout his time in Golden State and has played in 21 games for the team this season, averaging 6.9 ppg and 3.5 rpg and has not played in 17 of the team’s last 19 games.

The Phoenix Suns have made another trade a day after reportedly landing Kevin Durant. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Phoenix is picking up Darius Bazley from the Oklahoma City Thunder for veteran big man Dario Saric.

Saric has been a vital reserve for the Suns in 2020-21, but has been slow to regain his old form after suffering an ACL injury in the 2021 NBA Finals. The LA Clippers have infused their roster with some youth in a trade with the Denver Nuggets. Per multiple reports, The Clippers are acquiring guard Bones Hyland from the Nuggets in exchange for two future second-round picks.

Westbrook reportedly interested in joining Clippers or Heat

Former All-Star Russell Westbrook was dealt as a part of a reported three-team swap that will land him with the Utah Jazz. However, the current Los Angeles Lakers guard is not expected to be with the Jazz for long and is widely expected to be bought out of his deal. If that happens, The Athletic reports Westbrook is interested in signing with the LA Clippers or Miami Heat as a free agent.

Former Indiana Pacers guard George Hill is headed back to his first NBA team. Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Milwaukee Bucks are trading Hill to Indiana for a second-round pick. Hill spent five of his first eight NBA seasons in Indiana (2011-16) and was a key player in the Pacers’ teams that reached back-to-back Eastern Conference finals in 2013 and ’14. Per multiple reports, the Portland Trail Blazers are making a move to add perimeter defense to their roster after reportedly dealing a defensive stopper a day earlier. The Blazers are set to add Philadelphia 76ers swingman Matisse Thybulle as a part of a three-team trade between Portland, Philadelphia and the Charlotte Hornets, per Keith Pompey of Philly.com.

The Blazers reportedly sent Josh Hart to the New York Knicks in a trade that netted them Cam Reddish and a future first-round pick. This season, Thybulle is averaging 2.7 ppg and 1.3 rpg in 12.1 minutes after posting 5.7 ppg and 2.3 rpg in 25.5 mpg last season. He is a two-time All-Defensive team member, making the second team in 2020-21 and 2021-22.

McDaniels, a fourth-year center, is averaging 10.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.2 spg — all career highs — and will serve as a valuable backup for 76ers star center Joel Embiid.

Bucks reportedly trade for Crowder

Veteran forward Jae Crowder was reportedly dealt from the Phoenix Suns to the Brooklyn Nets in the Kevin Durant trade just hours ago. Apparently, he is on the move again. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Crowder is heading to the Milwaukee Bucks for five second-round picks. Additionally, the Indiana Pacers are in the trade and will acquire Jordan Nwora and Serge Ibaka from Milwaukee and will also waive big man Goga Bitadze.

A 10-year NBA veteran, Muscala has not been in the playoffs since 2020 with the Thunder. Jackson was acquired by the Celtics last season via the Phoenix Suns but has seen his role shrink considerably this season. He is averaging 0.9 ppg and playing 4.7 mpg in 23 games.
