2023 NCAA Tournament Projections: March Madness teams set

It has been 27 years since Purdue earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Following a win over Ohio State in Saturday's Big Ten Tournament semifinals, the Boilermakers are looking to put an end to that drought.

Purdue has reemerged as a No. 1 seed in Mike DeCourcy's latest NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament projections, which were released Sunday morning.

Alabama, Houston and Kansas join the Boilermakers as projected No. 1 seeds. The Crimson Tide and Cougars are both in action Sunday in their respective conference tournament championship games, while the Jayhawks fell to Texas in the Big 12 title game on Saturday.

Following its loss to Arizona in the Pac-12 championship, UCLA falls back down to the 2-line in DeCourcy's updated projections. Both the Bruins and Wildcats are listed as No. 2 seeds, along with Texas and Big East Tournament champion Marquette.

DeCourcy has UConn, Kansas State, Gonzaga and Baylor listed as 3-seeds in his bracket forecast, with Tennessee, Virginia, Duke and Xavier as his projected 4-seeds. The Blue Devils are among the hottest teams in the nation heading into Selection Sunday, winners of nine straight, including an impressive 59-49 victory over Virginia in Saturday's ACC title game.

As far as teams currently on the bubble, DeCourcy has Pitt, Utah State, NC State and Arizona State as his last four teams in the tournament, with Clemson, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and Nevada among his first four out. His next four out includes Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon and Vanderbilt,

When it comes to conference representation, the Big Ten leads the way with nine teams, while the SEC has eight teams represented. The Big 12 has seven teams in DeCourcy's projections, and the ACC and Big East each have five. The Pac-12 has four listed, while the Mountain West has three. The American and WCC have two teams.
