Giants, Ex-Colts Linebacker Bobby Okereke Agree to Four-Year Deal, per Report

The Giants are reportedly poised to add one of the premier tacklers in the NFL after agreeing to terms on a contract with free agent and former Colts standout linebacker Bobby Okereke on Monday.

New York and Okereke, 26, reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year, $40 million contract that will include $22 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The lucrative deal is expected to become official when the new league year begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

A mainstay in the Colts’ starting lineup since 2021, Okereke has racked up an incredible 283 tackles in his two seasons as a starter. The ’22 campaign proved to be the best of Okereke’s young career, as the ’19 third-round pick ranked 10th in the NFL with a career-high 151 tackles (six for loss) to go with five pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 17 starts.

The promising linebacker’s glowing performances over the last two seasons positioned him among the top defensive free agents this offseason, which has now led to what figures to be a prominent role in the Giants’ defense. For his career, Okereke has appeared in 64 games (34 starts) and recorded 420 tackles (15 for loss), 17 pass deflections, three sacks and three interceptions.
