Villanova Wildcats forward Maddy Siegrist eclipsed 1,000 single-season points Saturday during her NCAA Tournament matchup against Cleveland State. Here’s what you need to know:

- The 22-year-old reached 1,000 points at the 2:45 mark of the second quarter with a turnaround, off-the-glass jumper.
- Siegrist averaged 28.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 51.8 percent shooting from the field this season.

Backstory
Siegrist became just the fifth women’s player to ever cross that 1,000-point threshold, joining Kelsey Plum (2016-17), Jackie Stiles (2000-01), Odyssey Sims (2013-14) and Megan Gustafson (2018-19).
The All-American was already the leading scorer in Villanova women’s basketball history, but this achievement puts her in even rarer air among some of the best scorers in the history of the game.

Among her collegiate accolades, Siegrist is a two-time Big East Player of the Year. She is also a first-team All-American in 2023.
For her career, Siegrist averages 24.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game on 48.8 percent shooting from the floor. — Jennings
