This year’s Masters patrons will need an umbrella or poncho for most of tournament week at Augusta National.
As of Sunday, the Weather Channel forecast is calling for bad weather throughout the tournament. The Augusta area on Thursday can expect cloudy skies with a possible stray thunderstorm during the day. Scattered storms are being forecasted Thursday night through Friday followed by rain the rest of the weekend.
A sign showing “WEATHER WARNING” may appear on scoreboards and message boards in advance of inclement weather, in which case patrons should take precautions even before the suspension of play. If it is suspended, an airhorn will be signaled.
The chances of rain are scheduled as follows:
- Thursday: 24% during the day, 40% at night.
- Friday: 70% during the day, 80% at night.
- Saturday: 80% during the day, 60% at night.
- Sunday: 50% during the day, 40% at night.
Just before last year’s Masters, the Tuesday practice round was rained out. Many took shelter in the nearby restaurants and bars. Ticket holders were given the opportunity to purchase the same tickets this year.
The warmest day is supposed to Thursday with temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees. The weekend will cool down by 20 degrees temperature-wise, but the entire Masters is predicted to see a humidity of 67-86%.
Guests can also expect, at most, a gentle breeze with winds up to 12 mph.
