David Pastrnak Scores Hat Trick in Bruins’ Record-Setting Win

The Bruins broke the all-time NHL record for wins in a single season on Sunday, picking up their 63rd victory during a clash against the Flyers. In doing so, they surpassed the 1995-96 Red Wings and 2018-19 Lightning for the most wins by a team in a single season in NHL history.

Star forward David Pastrnak played hero for Boston in the historic victory, leading the charge with a hat trick, which brought his individual tally to 60 goals for the season. It’s the first time in his career he’s reached that threshold.

After the game, Pastrnak couldn’t hide his excitement over the Bruins’ record-setting victory.

“It’s a lot of fun, I’m not going to lie,” said Pastrnak, via Matt Porter of The Boston Globe. “Made history today in the biggest hockey league in the world. We definitely appreciate it.”

Pastrnak became just the second player in Boston franchise history to record 60 goals in a season, joining the legendary Phil Esposito, who did so four times throughout his career.

The third of his three goals also brought Pastrnak up to 300 goals on his career.

The Bruins have a chance to break the single-season points record of 132, owned by the 1976-77 Canadiens. Boston has 131 points with two games left in the regular season, needing just one win (or two overtime losses) to break the record.
