2025 PGA Championship Odds: Favorite Scheffler Bags Another Major

PGA Championship odds for the 2025 tournament are now a wrap, with the final round complete. And unsurprisingly, Scottie Scheffler ruled at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C.

Scheffler entered Round 4 with a three-stroke lead. And though things got tight midround, as he was tied with Jon Rahm, Scheffler ultimately pulled away for a 5-shot victory.

Scheffler Storms To Lead

UPDATE 8 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Scottie Scheffler shot even-par 71 today to finish the job, posting an 11-under 273 total. He was the pre-tourney favorite and remained favored after each of the first three rounds.

Scheffler stumbled with a couple front-nine bogeys to fall to 9 under, tied with Rahm. But he had three birdies against just one bogey on the back nine, cruising to victory.

Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau tied for second at 6-under 278. Rahm, playing aggressive late in an attempt to catch Scheffler, finished bogey/double bogey/double bogey for a 1-over 73 and 4-under 280 total. Rahm tied for eighth.

UPDATE 8:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Scottie Scheffler took the term "Moving Day" quite seriously, firing a 6-under 65 in the third round for an 11-under 202 total. That gives the world's No. 1 player a three-shot lead heading to the final round.

So The SuperBook moved him all the way out to a -450 favorite. Even though activity has slowed during the tournament, Scheffler is still a liability in PGA Championship odds.

"Scottie hasn't really attracted notable support in the updated odds. Bettors have turned their attention elsewhere. But we still have small liability remaining on Scheffler," SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman said.

Alex Noren is alone in second at 8-under 205, after shooting 66 Saturday. Jon Rahm is tied for fifth at 207, and Bryson DeChambeau is another shot back at 208, tied for eighth. Noren and Rahm are at +2000 and DeChambeau +3000.

Sherman would take any of those players and more to somehow lift the trophy Sunday.

"We would do well if anyone else were to come from behind to pass Scottie," he said. "Our best outcomes include Noren, J.T. Poston and Davis Riley."

Noren closed +50000 (500/1) pre-tournament, as did Riley, and Poston closed +20000 (200/1). Riley and Poston are tied for third at 206, five shots off the lead.

UPDATE 10 P.M. ET FRIDAY: PGA Championship futures odds have not gone according to form through two rounds. Sure, Scottie Scheffler is absolutely in the mix, as he seemingly always is. But there are a lot of lesser lights at the top of the leaderboard, too.

Scheffler followed Thursday's 2-under 69 with a 3-under 68 today for a 5-under 137 total. That puts him in a four-way tie for fifth, three shots behind surprise leader Jhonattan Vegas. In the first round, Vegas fired a blistering 7-under 64, and he shot 70 today for an 8-under 134 total.

However, Scheffler remains the favorite, and at +200, he's notably shorter than his pre-tourney price of +450. DeChambeau is No. 2 in PGA Championship odds at +850.

"In the outrights, we do well with anyone not named Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy," SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman said.

McIlroy has ground to make up if he's going to be an issue. He was the +500 second choice pre-tourney, then shot a 3-over 74 Thursday. But he followed with a 2-under 69 today. With a 1-over 143 total, he finished right on the cutline and is tied for 62nd.

Vegas is the +1000 third choice, with Matt Fitzpatrick fourth at +1200. Fitzpatrick shot 68-68 the first two rounds for a 6-under 136 total, tied for second with Matthieu Pavon and Si Woo Kim.

Kim is +1400 after following an opening 1-over 72 with a sizzling 7-under 64. Max Homa, the +2000 sixth choice, had a similar effort: Homa shot 2-over 73 Thursday, then fired a 64 today and is tied with Scheffler at 137.

Vegas was not exactly a popular play pre-tourney, as a massive long shot.

"We have two pre-tournament tickets on Vegas, for $5 each at 500/1," Sherman said. "There are zero tickets on Fitzpatrick, who closed pre-tournament at 250/1. There were a few pre-tournament tickets on Si Woo Kim, between 125/1 and 150/1."

Head of the Class

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: A day out from the the first ball flying off the tee, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are co-favorites at BetMGM. Both golfers are +500 in PGA Championship futures odds.

Months ago, Scheffler opened as the +450 favorite, so he remains in that same range. McIlroy opened as the +900 second choice, so he's made up ground, bolstered by his victory at the Masters in April.

Bettors are intrigued by both golfers. Scheffler is No. 1 in ticket count, slightly ahead of McIlroy. The money margin larger, with Scheffler holding almost a 2/1 edge over McIlroy.

That said action on McIlroy has slowed of late. In fact, the third choice – Bryson DeChambeau – is creating more liability. DeChambeau opened as the +2200 seventh choice, but is now into +800.

"Scottie and Bryson are the two big ones we want to avoid," BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini siad. "I guess bettors think Rory will have a Masters hangover."

DeChambeau is No. 3 in tickets and money, and a fair amount of those bets came at odds longer than his current 8/1.

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET SATURDAY, MAY 10: Scottie Scheffler is the +450 favorite in The SuperBook's PGA Championship futures odds. And he's coming in with some momentum.

At the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Scheffler opened with a 10-under 61 and went on to post a ridiculous 31-under 253 total. On Friday/Saturday/Sunday, he shot 63/66/63, and he won by eight strokes.

However, that was Scheffler's first win of the season. It could be argued that McIlroy, the +500 second choice, is as hot, since he finally broke through at the Masters last month. In fact, McIlroy was briefly the PGA Championship favorite after that victory.

The Masters win completed a career Grand Slam for McIlroy, who topped Justin Rose in a playoff to claim his first green jacket. SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman sees Scheffler and McIlroy as well suited for Quail Hollow.

"Scottie's game fits any course. And this is a course that Rory has had much of his success at, winning four times at Quail Hollow as a PGA Tour stop," Sherman said.

Both golfers are popular, but McIlroy's shortened price has stunted tickets a bit.

"With McIlroy's PGA Championship odds adjusted from 7/1 to 5/1 off his Masters win, support has slowed down for him, now that he is in Scheffler's odds range," Sherman said. "Currently, Rory is our largest liability, including a wager of $9,000 at 7/1 in early March.

"Scottie is our second-largest liability, including a wager of $9,500 at 5/1 in late February."

More Popular Plays

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: No doubt, Scheffler, McIlroy and DeChambeau are popular plays. But Cipollini pointed to two more golfers getting bettors' attention in PGA Championship odds.

And both have major wins under their belts.

"Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are also taking bets," Cipollini said.

Thomas opened +4000 and is now the +1800 fourth choice. On the flip side, Spieth can still be had at +6000.

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET SATURDAY MAY 10: There's a sizable gap between Scheffler/McIlroy and the rest of the field. Bryson DeChambeau is the +1200 third choice, followed by a few players at +2000:

  • Ludvig Aberg
  • Collin Morikawa
  • Justin Thomas
  • Xander Schauffele

Sherman said Aberg and Thomas are seeing some early action in 2025 PGA Championship odds.

"Aberg has been receiving attention for the last year, since his Masters debut, so it's not surprising," Sherman said, alluding to the Swede's surprising runner-up effort in 2024 at Augusta. "Thomas has been picking up support coming off his victory at the RBC Heritage."

Indeed, a week after the 2025 Masters, Thomas got his first win of the season at the RBC. And Thomas is a two-time PGA Championship winner, in 2017 and 2022.

Schauffele is the defending PGA champion, his lone career major win. But none of the aforementioned players are a liability at this point.

"As of now, we are looking to dodge Scottie and Rory. Pretty much any other result would be favorable for the book," Sherman said.
