History was made during the 2023 U.S. Open on Thursday at the Los Angeles Country Club after both Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele shot a 62 in their first round.

It’s not often you break golf history alongside one of your friends and the two were seen congratulating each other after finishing their rounds, both of which set a new record at the U.S. Open.

Later in the afternoon, Schauffele had the perfect message for Fowler.

“Do this again tomorrow @RickieFowler?” Schauffele wrote while quote tweeting the PGA Tour’s graphic about the two golfers making major championship history.

Fowler finished with 10 birdies and two bogeys to shoot his 8-under, while Schauffele had eight birdies with zero bogeys.

The two historymakers were not in the same pairing on Thursday, nor will they play together on Friday during the second round. But, if Schauffele’s wish comes true and they repeat their score on Friday—or continue to at least play this well—they could easily be partnered come Saturday.
