The Pittsburgh Steelers and linebacker Alex Highsmith have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth $68 million, reports NFL.com.

The 25-year-old Highsmith had a career year in 2022, recording 63 tackles, 14.5 sacks, and forcing five fumbles, which led the NFL, while playing in all 17 games.

Highsmith was originally a third-round pick out of Charlotte by the Steelers in the 2020 draft.

Highsmith was entering the last year of his rookie contract, a four-year, $4.5 million deal, and was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

He will reportedly make nearly $28 million in guaranteed money and $38 million over the first two years of the deal of the new extension.
