Epic Scenes Emerge From Nebraska’s Volleyball Match in Football Stadium

Nebraska women’s volleyball is breaking history by hitting the court at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night vs. Omaha.

The Huskers completely sold out the football stadium for the event, and the official number for Wednesday night’s attendance came out to be 92,003. This broke the record for the most fans in attendance at a women’s sporting event in history. The previous record was set at 91,648, which came last year at a Champions League soccer match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.

Wednesday’s match also shattered the NCAA volleyball attendance record, which was previously set at 18,755 people.

The scenes of the Huskers walking out of tunnel to take the field was quite the spectacle, as the stadium erupted into cheers. The applause was thunderous as the video panned to show the fully red crowd.

The Huskers then got to run through a crowd of fans after coach John Cook led the team down a red carpet onto the field.

Nebraska sold out of its allotted 82,900 tickets back in April, but then the school issued thousands of standing room only tickets. The volleyball game could bring in more fans than a football game since fans were also able to sit and stand on the field.
