Deion Sanders Confirms Updated Injury Timeline for Travis Hunter, Colorado’s Two-Way Star

Colorado standout Travis Hunter likely will be sidelined for three weeks after taking a vicious late hit in the Buffaloes’ double-overtime win against rival Colorado State on Saturday, according to Carl Reed of 247Sports.

The latest update on Hunter comes after Colorado coach Deion Sanders said on Fox’s game broadcast that Hunter would be out for a “few weeks.” The wide receiver/cornerback is poised to miss the Buffaloes’ upcoming games against Oregon, USC and Arizona State.

Hunter suffered the injury midway through the first quarter. Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders attempted to connect with Hunter on a pass down the left sideline. After Hunter failed to catch the ball, Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn delivered a powerful hit to Hunter’s midsection, drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty.

After the hit, Hunter stayed down on the field momentarily before leaving the field. Although Hunter returned to the contest briefly in the third quarter, he was later ruled out and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Hunter finished Saturday’s game with two catches for 21 yards and a lost fumble. In Colorado’s first two contests, against TCU and Nebraska, Hunter registered 14 catches for 192 receiving yards and one interception on defense.
