If Joel Embiid eventually wants to leave the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks reportedly have a trade package that they are willing to propose for the reigning NBA MVP.

Per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Knicks are willing to offer a package of three players among Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett, Evan Fournier and Mitchell Robinson plus two or three future first-round draft picks to the Sixers for Embiid.

Embiid's relationship with the 76ers figures to be one of the key storylines over the course of this season and into next summer.

There were already rumblings this offseason about teams keeping an eye on what's going on in Philadelphia. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype previously cited the Knicks and Miami Heat as teams to watch for Embiid.

Leon Rose, who previously served as Embiid's agent, is currently president of the Knicks. NBA insider Marc Stein reported in August that Rose was at Embiid's wedding over the summer

"Both Knicks president Leon Rose and his top aide William Wesley were at Embiid's recent wedding and, while true that Rose and Wesley used to represent Embiid as player agents, it has been suggested that their attendance was 'not nothing,'" Stein wrote.

During an interview with Maverick Carter at the Uninterrupted Sports Film Festival in July (h/t ESPN.com), Embiid at least opened up the possibility he could leave Philadelphia if he doesn't feel the team gives him the best chance to win an NBA title:

"I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes. I don't know where that's gonna be, whether it's in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that. I want to see what it feels like to win that first one, and then you can think about the next one. It's not easy, but it takes more than one or two, three guys. You got to have good people around you, and myself, every single day, I work hard to be at that level so I can make it happen. So, every single day, I'm working towards that."

Embiid has three guaranteed years and $154.2 million remaining on his current contract. The deal also includes a $59 million player option for the 2026-27 season.

All of the focus for the Sixers right now is about the situation involving James Harden. The 10-time All-Star's status for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks is up in the air after being away from the team for multiple days amid his desire to be traded, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has been adamant they won't trade Harden without getting a deal that either brings back a quality player or brings back enough assets that allows them to make a follow-up trade to get a quality player.

Embiid has been the face of 76ers basketball for as long as he's been in the NBA. The six-time All-Star became the franchise's first MVP winner since Allen Iverson in 2000-01. He's led the league in points per game in each of the past two seasons.

Playoff success has been difficult to come by for Embiid and the Sixers. They have lost in the first two rounds of the postseason in six consecutive years, including blowing a 3-2 series lead to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season.
