NFL players dress up for Halloween. We rank the best costumes.

Spooky season is upon us.

NFL players celebrated Halloween over the weekend by showing up to their games dressed in their best costumes. Some teammates coordinated while some stars made their own statement.

On Sunday, the New York Jets took an early lead as the team with the most holiday spirit. The Detroit Lions closed out the week on Monday night with two nostalgic costumes that had fans — and a celebrity — hyped.

This year, Myles Garrett showed up in another chilling costume. Last season, he expressed his love for his favorite holiday with a haunted house featuring all the quarterbacks he's sacked. On game day, he impressed with a Vecna costume from the popular Netflix show "Stranger Things."

Did the Browns defender top last year's costume? Or will someone else take the crown as the Pumpkin King?

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Here's the 13 best Halloween costumes from Week 8 of the NFL season ranked from good to ghoulishly great:

13. Jordyn Brooks — Fresh Prince

Jordyn Brooks, born in 1997, channeled the 1990s for his Halloween look. The boom box, bucket hat and graffiti details also paid tribute to the Seattle Seahawks wearing their throwback uniforms.

12. Cameron Thomas — Mr. Incredible

Mr. Incredible is here to save the Arizona Cardinals season. Or at least bring some smiles. Cameron Thomas dressed up as the Disney super hero. No cape, of course.

11. Cordarrelle Patterson, Quincy Williams — Joker

A popular costume returned as both Cordarrelle Patterson and Quincy Williams showed up as Joker. The Atlanta Falcons running back wore a mask while the New York Jets defender opted for face paint.

10. Preston Smith — Michael Myers

The Green Bay Packers' Preston Smith looked extra spooky in the Lambeau Field parking garage in this Michael Myers costume.

9. Micah Parsons - Lion

Micah Parsons is ferocious on the field but maybe not so much off it in this lion onesie. After the Dallas Cowboys' victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News said the star linebacker was taking his son to a pumpkin patch.

8. Joe Burrow — Alien

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow got in the spirit on travel day with this alien mask and a NASA sweatshirt to show he's not of this world.

7. Tracy Walker III — A Pimp Named Slickback

Tracy Walker III closed out the week with a flashy purple suit a la A Pimp Named Slickback from the pop culture phenomenon "The Boondocks." The chain was swanging and the pants and jheri curl wig were flowing as the Detroit Lions safety strutted into Ford Field.

6. Myles Garrett — The Creeper

Myles Garrett committed to another full costume and this one was … creepy … literally.

The Cleveland Browns defensive end showed up as The Creeper from the 2001 horror film "Jeepers Creepers" with a full mask, gloves, bloodied shirt and tattered coat to top it off.

Was it great? Yes. Was it as breathtaking as last year's? Not quite.

5. New York Jets defenders — Akatsuki from 'Naruto'

Jermaine Johnson, Will McDonald IV and Bryce Huff are warriors on the field and chose to band together for a fitting costume: members of the Akatsuki from "Naruto." Johnson wore an orange spiral mask as Obito Uchiha and McDonald IV wielded a large blade that isn't technically in the show, but still adds to the drama. Fans in the comments section were hyped to see the popular manga on the big stage.

4. Kyler Gordon — Spider-Man

Kyler Gordon was ready to sling some webs against the Los Angeles Chargers in this Spider-Man suit. As the camera followed the Chicago Bears cornerback for his tunnel entrance, he got major bonus points and perfectly crouched into the Marvel hero's signature stance.

3. Joshua Palmer — Motaw from 'Above the Rim'

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer referenced the classic movie "Above the Rim" for his Halloween costume. He didn't dress up as Tupac's heartless Birdie character but did a pretty good impression of Wood Harris' menacing Motaw. He wore a black jersey like the one in the film and carried a duffle bag and squirt gun to keep it family friendly.

2. Aidan Hutchinson — Sharkboy

Aidan Hutchinson really committed to this throwback costume: Sharkboy from the 2005 cult classic "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl." The Detroit Lions defensive lineman had the full gray suit and even added a black wig to look like actor Taylor Lautner.

Lautner saw the Lions' Instagram post, which referenced the movie's "Dream Dream" theme song, and expressed his appreciation for the homage.

"Sharkboys bout to have 5 sacks tonight @aidanhutch97," he said in the comments ahead of the game against the Las Vegas Raiders and Jimmy Garoppolo. "He’s bout to send Garoppolo all the way to Planet Drool."

1. Laviska Shenault Jr. — Minion

Laviska Shenault Jr. from the Carolina Panthers takes the crown because of this unexpected costume. He went all out in a blow-up Minion suit. The wide receiver gave fans high fives as he waddled into the stadium. It was the good energy the team needed to get their first win.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (5) is dressed in a minion costume as he arrives at Bank of America Stadium prior to the team's game against the Houston Texans, Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in Charlotte, N.C.
