Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang Set for Capital One's 'The Match 9'

Timothy RappJan 23, 2024

TNT Sports announced on Tuesday that Capital One's The Match 9 will take place on Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. ET and feature golfers Rory McIlroy, Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang and Max Homa.

It is the first time that both male and female golfers will compete in a mixed skins format, which will be broadcast on TNT, truTV and HLN and streamed on the B/R Sports Add-On on Max. The event will be held at West Palm Beach's The Park golf course.

Each hole in the competition will be worth a specified amount of money for charity, with all of the golfers using the same tees for the four par-3 holes on the course. The remaining eight holes will have different tees and yardages for the men and women.

The golfer who raises the most money for charity via the skins format will be named the winner.

McIlroy, a four-time Major winner, 24-time winner on the PGA Tour and one of the most prominent players in the sport, is the headliner. Thompson is an 11-time winner on the LPGA Tour and was the 2014 Chevron Championship winner.

Zhang is one of the up-and-coming stars in golf. Only 20, she's already claimed a title on the LPGA Tour, winning her debut tournament in June at the Mizuho Americas Open. And Homa is a six-time champion on the PGA Tour and represented the United States at September's Ryder Cup.

As for the broadcast, Inside the NBA host Ernie Johnson will serve in the same role for The Match, while his NBA colleague Charles Barkley and 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman will join him as analysts.

Kathryn Tappen will operate as the course reporter, while the broadcast will also include former LPGA golfter Christina Kim, music artist and producer DJ Khaled and NHL on TNT personality Paul Bissonnette.
