The coaching carousel is spinning, from the retirement of Alabama's Nick Saban to the departure of New England's Bill Belichick.

Could Andy Reid be next in line? The Chiefs head coach is one of the longest-tenured in the NFL, and he's looking to lead Kansas City to another Super Bowl in his 11th season with the team.

Nicknamed "Big Red," Reid started as an assistant coach in the league in 1992 with the Green Bay Packers. He won one Super Bowl as an assistant coach in Green Bay, and he has won two more with the Chiefs, including just last season.

While Reid is busy focusing on the Chiefs' quest to repeat as champions, he's provided insight into his future with the franchise.

Is Andy Reid retiring?

After the Super Bowl 58 win over the 49ers, Reid was once again asked about retirement. His answer stayed the same — he hasn't thought about it.

"My mom and dad told me this when they were working,'' Reid said ahead of Super Bowl 58. "They said, 'You'll know when it's time,' and I'm ready to go right now. Let's go.

"That's what they would tell me when I was young. I was an inquisitive kid and so that's the way I look [at it]. Somewhere you're going to know when it's time. Today's not the day.''

Reid was also asked about his future before the 2024 NFL playoffs began, but he had an answer ready to go.

"I haven’t even thought about that," Reid said. "I’m thinking about one thing. I figured that would come up when you guys were asking these questions because I’m old — but not that old."

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt also was asked about Reid's future, but he said he has received no indication that Reid is preparing to retire.

"I don't have a sense for what he's thinking,'' Hunt said. "I do know he's really engaged and enjoying it and I have no sense that he's going to be ready to retire in the near future. But in terms of how long it goes, I don't know. Certainly I hope it's a long time in the future, but we'll just have to see as we go.''

Based on those quotes, Reid seems to be planning to stick around in Kansas City.

How old is Andy Reid?

Reid is 65 years old. His birthday is on March 19, so when the 2024 NFL season begins, he will be 66 years old.

The Chiefs head coach is the oldest active head coach in the NFL. With Pete Carroll, 72, stepping away from his head coaching role with the Seahawks and Bill Belichick, 71, out of a job (for now), Reid is the oldest head coach in the league.

How long has Andy Reid coached the Chiefs?

Reid is in his 11th season as head coach of the Chiefs.

He first joined Kansas City in 2013 after 14 years with the Eagles. With Belichick's run in New England coming to an end after the 2023 season, Reid is the third-longest tenured coach in the league, behind just Mike Tomlin's 17 seasons with the Steelers and John Harbaugh's 16 seasons with the Ravens.

Andy Reid coaching record

Reid has built an impressive resume as an NFL head coach. He led the Eagles to a number of successful seasons, though he never won a championship. In 14 seasons in Philadelphia, he compiled an overall regular-season record of 130-93-1.

Since Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013, he has helped the team to two Super Bowl titles in three appearances. With Kansas City, he has a regular-season record of 128-51.

In total, Reid has a career record of 258-144-1 in 403 regular-season games across 25 seasons.
