Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid still doesn't have a timeline for his return to the court after undergoing meniscus surgery, but he's optimistic that he'll be back during the regular season.

Per ESPN's Tim Bontemps, Embiid said, "It's the same mindset: If I feel good, I'm playing."

Embiid underwent a procedure on his left knee on Feb. 6 and the Sixers announced at the time that he would be reevaluated in four weeks. He suffered the injury to his meniscus during a game against the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 30. He had been forced to miss matchups against the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers before the Warriors game due to a lingering knee issue.

Embiid said Thursday that he didn't feel pressure to return against Golden State, but he felt the need to get the team back on track because Philadelphia was riding a three-game losing streak at the time.

The Sixers have gone 4-8 since Embiid went down, and they rank sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 33-25 record. However, the reigning NBA MVP remains positive and said he's excited about the additions of Buddy Hield, who was acquired at the trade deadline, and Kyle Lowry, who Philadelphia signed after his buyout from the Charlotte Hornets.

Prior to being sidelined, Embiid was having another MVP-caliber season with averages of 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. His presence is paramount to the Sixers' chances in the playoffs, so the team will do whatever is best to make sure he's ready for the postseason.
