Texans vs. Bears Announced for 2024 NFL Hall of Fame Game on August 1

If Caleb Williams ends up being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, his first game with the Chicago Bears will be against the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game.

The NFL announced on Tuesday the Texans and Bears will kick off the preseason schedule on Aug. 1 in Canton, Ohio.

The Texans and Bears are going to be well represented in Canton when the 2024 Hall of Fame class gets inducted.

Andre Johnson, who spent the first 12 years of his career in Houston, was elected in his third year of eligibility. He is the first player in Texans franchise history who will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Bears legends Steve McMichael and Julius Peppers will also be inducted this year. McMichael played 13 of his 15 NFL seasons in Chicago. He was a member of the historic 1985 defense that propelled the franchise to its only Super Bowl title.

Peppers spent the bulk of his career with the Carolina Panthers, but he had a terrific four-year run with the Bears from 2010 to '13. He was an All-Pro selection twice and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting in his first season in Chicago.

This will mark the Texans' second time playing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Their first appearance was in their inaugural season in 2002. They were defeated 34-17 by the New York Giants.

The Bears will be playing in the game for the sixth time, tied with the Cleveland Browns for the second-most in NFL history. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys have both taken part in the game seven times.

Chicago's most recent appearance was a 17-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in 2018.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be enshrined at a ceremony on Aug. 3.
