Eagles' Sirianni: A.J. Brown Narratives Are 'Lazy' After Viral Reading Video on Bench

Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown created a viral moment when he was seen reading a book on the sidelines during Sunday's NFC Wild Card Game against the Green Bay Packers.

During a radio appearance on Tuesday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni made it clear that he was "definitely OK" with Brown's actions and criticized the "lazy" narrative that he was upset about his lack of production.

"I'm definitely OK with it," Sirianni told the WIP Morning Show on Tuesday. "The crazy thing is, he's been reading this book on the sideline for a long time. It just so happened a camera saw it this week.

"Some guys pray in between, some guys mediate in between. A.J. reads in between. Whatever these guys need to do to put their mind in a place where they can play with great detail and great effort, I fully encourage them to do that. I love A.J. He's such a great teammate. I saw Jahan Dotson said something defending A.J. and I thought that was awesome too. Another example of our teammates defending each other.

"We don't do any research and we jump to a conclusion of, 'Oh he must be disgruntled.' That to me is lazy. Everyone needs to figure out why he's doing it before they jump to judgement on the man. Because the man, A.J. Brown is a great, great, great person. The man A.J. Brown is the best receiver—and I'll say it without hesitation—the best receiver that this city has ever seen...It's hard for me to watch when people are getting on him without doing the proper research of who the man is and what he's doing in the first place."

Many believed that Brown reading the book Inner Excellence during gameplay was a sign of frustration. The 27-year-old was limited to one catch for 10 yards on just three targets in the game, but the Eagles still earned a 22-10 win to advance to the Divisional Round.

Brown clarified after the game that he reads the book "every single game" and considers it something that "gives me a sense of peace." He said the only difference is that the cameras caught him this time. He also posted a tweet about the book's importance to him.

"This game is 90% mental and 10% physical for me. I bring it to every game and I read it between each drive," Brown wrote. "I use it to refocus and lock in despite what may transpire in the game good or bad. People tend to create controversy when they don't know the truth."

However, Brown's penchant for voicing his frustrations earlier in the year is what caused many to jump to the conclusion that he was disgruntled over his lack of volume in the passing attack. It appears that he's bringing a new attitude to the playoffs, which would surely benefit the Eagles as they try to make their second trip to the Super Bowl in the last three years.

Brown will look to make more of an impact when the Eagles take on the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round on Sunday.
