Rich Rodriguez Bans TikTok from West Virginia Locker Room
Ben Queen-Imagn Images

Well, West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez just provided one of the most interesting headlines of the offseason with his decision to ban the popular social media app TikTok from the locker room.

TikTok has become a bit of a distraction in college and professional sports, with players like Livvy Dunne, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Russel Wilson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and more regularly using the app.

“They’re going to be on it, so I’m not banning it from them,” Rodriguez said. “I’m just banning them from dancing on it. We try to have a hard edge and whatever, and you’re in your tights dancing on TikTok, that’s not quite the image of our program that I want.”

While the idea of banning TikTok may sound silly at face value, the idea of athletes cleaning up their social media and making sure to represent their university well is a concept that goes back to the implementation of social media.

“I banned dancing on TikTok, I guess I did that,” Rodriguez continued. “And I’m allowed to do that, I guess. I can have rules. Now, twenty years from now if they want to be sitting in their pajamas in their basement eating Cheetos and watching TikTok, whatever the hell, they can go at it. Smoking cannabis, whatever. I mean, knock yourself out.”

Rodriguez finished his statement by saying, “I hope our focus can be on winning football games. How about let’s win the football game and not worry about winning TikTok.”

This fall, you can see the Mountaineers on the football field, on your television, hear them on the radio, or just about anywhere other than dancing on TikTok.

Texas vs Xavier Prediction, Preview & Odds: NCAA Tournament First Four

You’re here, Texas - let’s see what you can do with the opportunity. Totally mediocre throughout the SEC campaign, the 14th team from the conference got in after beating Vanderbilt and Texas A M in the SEC Tournament. However, it ended the regular season on a 4-8 run. Xavier was the opposite. It closed out hot with seven straight wins, but bowed out fast in the Big East Tournament in a thriller of a loss to Marquette. The winner gets Illinois on Friday night. Texas vs Xavier Game Preview Texas vs Xavier How To Watch Date: Wednesday, March 19 Venue: UD Arena, Dayton, OH Time: 9:10 pm ET TV: truTV Teams: Texas (20-12), Xavier (20-12) Region: Midwest NCAA Tournament Schedule, Predictions, Previews Why Texas Will Win The Longhorns can score, they don’t turn the ball over, and they’re good on the free throw line. They have not problem getting up and down the floor and going in scoring spurts, but they’re at their bast when the defense is able to keep the tempo from getting out of hand. Xavier’s defense is just okay, it doesn’t come up with offensive boards, and … Why Xavier Will Win The Musketeers will try to make this a track meet right away. They’re great from three, wonderful at cranking up the scoring punch, and few teams in the tournament are better from the free throw line. Yes, Texas can score, but the team is 14-0 when allowing fewer than 72 points, 16-1 when giving up fewer than 73, and 3-14 when allowing 74 or more. Texas vs Xavier: Who Will Win? Xavier has been held to 72 points or fewer 11 times and went 3-8. It’ll pull the Longhorns into a bit more of an up-and-down shootout than they’d like, they’ll be strong on the free throw line late, and yeah, playing just 50 miles from home should help. Watch the threes early. If the Musketeers are hitting them, it’s on. Former Vancouver Canuck appears to already be in doghouse with New York Rangers

Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy is looking to put this weekend behind him after being in a tough spot with the New York Rangers. Just before the trade deadline earlier this month, the Vancouver Canucks dealt Carson Soucy to the New York Rangers in exchange for 2025 third-round pick. The move came just over a month after the Vancouver Canucks placed the blueliner on the trade block, and so far, his time in the Big Apple isn't going as well as Soucy would've expected. New York Rangers scratch Carson Soucy for both games on weekend The New York Rangers are in a battle for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and had back-to-back games this past weekend against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Edmonton Oilers. Ahead of Saturday night's game in Columbus, New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette decided to make Carson Soucy a healthy scratch, marking his third stint in the press box this season, the other two coming with Vancouver. Without Soucy in the lineup, the Rangers rolled to a big 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets to jump into the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Less than 24 hours later, the Rangers were back home at Madison Square Garden for a date with Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, with Laviolette sticking with the same lineup, scratching Carson Soucy for a second consecutive game. Since joining the New York Rangers back on March 6, Carson Soucy has appeared in four games, scoring one goal, along with two penalty minutes, a minus-two rating and is averaging 13:42 of ice-time per night — a nearly five-minute drop from his time with Vancouver this season. The Rangers will be back in action Tuesday night as they host the Calgary Flames and it's going to be interesting to see what Laviolette does with his lineup after Sunday's loss to Edmonton and if Carson Soucy draws back in.

Bad news for captain Brady Tkachuk ahead of game vs. Montreal as he appears to be banged up

As the Montreal Canadiens prepare for what is likely their most important game in the past three years, at the Bell Centre, no less, there's an update. "Huge game in perspective at the Bell Centre tonight as the Canadiens will face the Sens. "Not only is there an undeniable rivalry between the two clubs, but the stakes will be high! A Canadiens victory combined with a Rangers defeat and the Habs take the final playoff spot. "A regular CH victory would also bring them within 4 points of the Sens. The Canadiens' most important game in the last 3 years? I think so!" In short, ahead of this much-anticipated March matchup, the Canadiens' opponents have just received some concerning news. Brady Tkachuk is banged up and was absent from practice Monday Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green announced that Tkachuk slightly twisted his hip during his team's most recent game. He also took a puck to the face during Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs. The injury isn't extremely serious but could still force him to miss Tuesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens. There's someone who would be disappointed to hear this. This will be a situation to monitor in the coming minutes and hours. His absence would no doubt would be beneficial for the Canadiens. Monday morning, Tkachuk wasn't even able to practice with his teammates. And even if Tkachuk suits up Tuesday night for what should feel like a playoff game, he still seems to be pretty banged up. Needless to say, Tkachuk is the most important player for the Ottawa Senators, and they will do everything possible to have him play in this crucial four-point game in Montreal.

Dolphins have submitted offer to six-time Pro Bowler

It was recently learned the Dolphins have made an offer to keep Emmanuel Ogbah in the fold. He is not the only veteran who could find himself remaining on Miami’s defensive front next season, though. A standing offer is also in place for Calais Campbell, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes. It remains to be seen if Campbell will play in 2025, but he said after the regular season ended he would contemplate doing so. The Dolphins inked the Hurricanes product to a one-year deal last offseason, and that signing proved to be worthwhile. Campbell logged a 58% snap share in 2024 and he operated as a key figure along the D-line. The 2010s All-Decade Team member posted five sacks and 12 tackles for loss, showcasing his disruptive abilities against the run and pass even this deep into his career. Campbell will turn 39 in September, but he could still provide value to Miami or an interested team if he chooses to play next year. Midway through the 2024 campaign, a trade agreement was in place to send Campbell back to the Ravens (after he played there from 2020-22). Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel vetoed the deal, though, and Campbell helped Miami remain in postseason contention through to Week 18. A scenario in which the six-time Pro Bowler was waived to allow him to join a playoff team was floated, although that did not take place. Now, the Dolphins await a decision from Campbell while making other free agent moves. Miami ranked ninth against the run last season, and retaining Campbell could set the team up to repeat that success in 2025. In the event he were to turn down the Dolphins’ offer and depart in free agency, though, finding a replacement (likely through the draft) would become a key priority. With work still to be done to keep Ogbah in place as a veteran edge rush presence, it will be interesting to see if negotiations will take place in the near future in Campbell’s case.
